Born and raised in Washington State, Rebecca Stockley fell in love with theatre in her teens. She pursued her passion for acting, attending the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program where she got her BFA.

Rebecca acted and directed in various theatres for several years until one day Improvisation changed her life. Since the mid 80s, Rebecca has been performing and teaching improvisation. Rebecca is a co-founder of BATS Improv in San Francisco where she continues to Coach and Perform.

As an improviser, Rebecca takes great joy in applying the principles of improvised theatre with individuals, and organizations, to enrich learning offstage. Improv practice can help people communicate. Improv can help organizations generate positive change in our rapidly changing world. The practice of APPLIED IMPROVISATION is growing and reaches all corners of the world. Rebecca is a proud member of the Applied Improv Network

As a trained actor, Rebecca has training and expertise that is invaluable for communications. With SpeechSkills, Rebecca coaches individuals to improve presence, confidence, and credibility.

A founding member of San Francisco's premiere improvisational theatre, BATS Improv, Rebecca was Dean of BATS School of Improv for 11 years - and she continues to perform on BATS stage and teach BATS workshops.

In addition to Rebecca's Applied Improvisation work, Rebecca has created and implemented improvisational theatre workshops and programs for several theatres including: the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; ACT Advanced Training Program; Berkeley Rep School of Theatre; Stanford University; Impro Labo and Tilt in Tokyo; Impro Melbourne in Melbourne; TVA in Amsterdam; and Stella Polaris Theatre in Helsinki.
